RESOURCE CENTRE Tools to Motivate Ideas designed to reward, recognize and reinforce high team morale!
Take Time To Recognize
During a training session, provide each member of your team with an index card. They are to place their name at the top. Rotate the cards. Each person writes something they like or appreciate about their peer. When the cards are returned to their “owners”, provide 1-2 minutes to read.
Baby Pictures
Gather a baby picture and a unique quote, statement or fact from each person. Affix them to poster board and number each picture. Create a handout with only the numbers listed. Explain that it is an individual competition to see how many of their peers they can identify. Review the list as a team and award the winner with a fun prize. This is a fun activity to use during a professional development day (post it in the morning and allow people to work on it during breaks or down times throughout the day). Alternatively, post the pictures in your work environment and provide a week to complete the activity. Review the list and award the winner during a team meeting.
A Piece Of Your Culture
Host a team potluck. Each person brings a dish that relates to his or her culture or heritage. You might choose to spend some time while everyone is eating to have employees share some interesting facts about their history.
Create Personal Profile Plaques
Show your employees how much they mean to you in an individualized way. Use the letters of your employee’s first name to recognize “soft skills” they excel in. Print on fancy paper and frame.
Create Personal Growth Notepads
Create note pads with the employee’s name and personal mission or goal statement. Change occurs through continued practice and these pads work as continuous reinforcement!
